Visiting HomeContainted in Kansas City Missouri on 5937 Charlotte road in the middle of an average neighborhood was very inspiring. HomeContained is a house that is made of all reusable materials. The idea behind it is that one can literally take the house apart and move it to where ever they want to move, instead of building a new house.
The walls of the house were made of crates or concrete board and soy foam for installation. To save materials instead of building a wall and putting shelving on it they decided to make both sides of the "wall" shelving, therefore there is no need for an actual wall. All of the materials for the house were bought from Asia.
The windows in the house were also very well planned out. The majority of the down stares was windows and where they did not want people to be able to see them they had that section of the window frosted. The South side of the house had the most amount of windows because that is the best way to naturally heat and cool a house, which is working really well for them.
All of the different levels of roofs on the house were also used. The roofs main purpose for this house were to serve as an area to garden. The roofs could also hold the weight of people and it could serve as a hangout area.
Over all the house was extremely well planned out and beautiful. Every inch of the house had purpose for being there and there was no excess. I look forward to seeing where this goes and would one day like to have one of my own.
