Kendall Buster Reflection
Kendall Buster is an artist whose work is very soothing and inspiring. She communicates a very organic feel that creates a flow with in a space that any of the pieces are in. Her small use of material makes everything seem light and not overwhelming. A lot of her hanging objects seem to allude to clouds, which many people find enjoyable to look.

Reflection of Martin Puryear
Martin Puryear’s pieces being abstract add to what makes them so interesting. He believes that a piece of work can allude to things or states of being without representing them. I think that many people who have never taken Art History or have never had any background in abstract art would not be able to appreciate this as much as someone who sees the complexity of it. Because I have taken Art History I do have an appreciation for his work and I do enjoy looking at it because it gives me something to think about.
I like all the ways he uses wood, he creates different shapes, textures, emotions and feelings just by manipulating the wood in different ways. Each piece is unique and not too similar to the next piece with Puryear, which I also find to be a strong talent.

Description of Exercise 2
Exercise 2 was to construct a cardboard chair that expressed the concept of duality. This cardboard chair had no restrictions on how much cardboard you could use but you could still not use anything else besides cardboard to keep the chair together.  Another criteria for this chair was that it had to represent whoever each person chose to write about in their Duality Essay that we wrote previously.
The process of this chair began with many idea sketches and then led into mini models. The final chair for many people, including me, didn’t end up exactly like the sketches and models. There is a lot of compromise I had to do due to time and the complexity of a larger chair than the original model. I ended up not including a lot of details I had originally planned on using because the main piece had so much going on already.
Once the chair is complete, sit-able and portrays duality it is time to sketch.  The sketches were the most difficult part of this exercise for me, because of my odd organic shape.

Description of Exercise 1
Exercise one of “Drawing, Designing, Constructing in 3D” was, now that I look back, the easiest part of this project. This exercise consisted of one four by four piece of cardboard and a box cutter.  The objective of this exercise was to make a sit-able seat only using cardboard and keeping the cardboard all connected. For myself, I researched paper-folding techniques and that ended up being very successful.

Masters of Illusions
Masters of Illusions is a short film I have seen multiple times. Its take on perspective is nice to hear every now and then. But the only true way to fully comprehend perspective is to draw in perspective, which I have just recently learnt.

Description of Project I
For Photography as Documentation: Mapping Time & Space I had to find multiple locations from which I would eventually pick one that I thought would make a good collage. To begin I started with about ten pictures for four different small test collages. I then made I refined collage of one of my smaller test collages with about twenty pictures. I ended up not being satisfied with my refined collage so I back tracked and used a different test collage to refine. After I had a better idea of what I was doing I started sketching more ideas. With many samples and failed attempts I finally came out with my final product of a hundred photos.
